Thank You to Hayden Homes!
Article from Lane Family Self-Sufficiency News, Feb. 2007

During the past year, the FSS staff was invited to take part in dedication ceremonies for homes purchased by two FSS Participant families. It was a wonderful and heart warming experience to be able to stand with these two families and to see the tears and excitement on the faces
of the parents and their children. These were both families that had
worked their way through adversity and who had faced major challenges, but who had created the change that would enable their children to be raised in healthy, stable households.

Neither of the two families would have been in a position to purchase a
home if it hadn’t been for the generosity and assistance of Hayden
Homes. Hayden Homes is a developer of new homes and neighborhoods. The Hayden Giving fund was established in 1998 to follow through on the passionate belief of the founder of Hayden Homes, Robert Watson, that everyone needed and deserved a home. The Hayden Giving Fund provides support to many charitable causes, but its primary purpose is a housing grant program. These housing grants enable families and individuals a life changing opportunity to own their own home through 0% interest loans. It is very satisfying to the FSS staff to know that the Hayden Giving Fund has chosen FSS Programs as the source of families for these homes.

Since 2002 twelve homes have been sold to FSS Participants through
the Hayden Giving Fund—two in Lane County. In March 2006 Andrea
Gonzalez and George Davidson purchased a new 3 bedroom, 2
bath home, in the Shadow Glen subdivision in Eugene. In December
2006, David and Christa Hitt purchased a new home in a new Veneta
subdivision, Perkins Country Estates. Both of these families were first
time home buyers who would not have been able to purchase a home
under ordinary circumstances.

A big thank you to the Hayden Giving Fund; Hayden Homes and its
employees; and the 29 local trade partners (manufacturers and craftsmen who provided donated labor and materials) who build homes for families with a dream.
